Travel Check — December 23, 2025 

Early morning at Harry Reid International Airport, and even heading straight into the Christmas rush, things were running smooth. C and D Gates were moving efficiently, TSA lines were flowing, and the overall pace felt calm for a city that never really sleeps.

Quick heads-up for holiday travelers: the main parking garages are filling up fast, so if you’re driving in, plan ahead.

Once upon a time at LAS, I found myself sitting in one of the airport restaurants, killing time the way travelers do between flights. What started as a routine airport stop turned into one of those layered Vegas moments—where culture, people, and unexpected connections all show up at once.

Walking through the terminal, it’s impossible to ignore how Vegas the airport feels. From the Kylie Jenner makeup vending machine—drawing plenty of curious glances—to spotting a Mob Museum display tucked into the flow of travelers, the city’s personality doesn’t stop at the Strip. Even the airport tells stories.

Back in 2012 - I ended up having a genuinely great conversation with a fellow traveler that end being the late - Russell Means (native american celebrity) as we were both headed to Arizona. At one point, I asked if he knew my friend Thana Redhawk from Redhawk Talent Management in New Mexico. Without hesitation, he smiled and said she was very well known for her poems and songs.

Just like that—connections crossing paths in an airport restaurant. Small world.

I first met Thana years ago on the North Coast of California, where she was singing at a festival. Funny how life circles back when you least expect it.

Moments like that are part of what makes LAS feel different. For a major international airport serving a nonstop city, it’s generally well organized, clearly marked, and efficient once you’ve been through it a few times. Staff interactions have been smooth, and even during peak periods, things tend to keep moving.

You’re either arriving with plans—or leaving with stories already forming.

Everyone’s Got a Favorite Airline — Here’s Mine

For me, a lot of these stories begin in airports. Not the glamorous parts. Not first-class lounges or influencer selfies. The real stuff—early mornings, late nights, tired travelers, kind employees, and small moments that make travel feel human again.

Everyone’s got a favorite airline when they fly in the U.S., but me?

I fly Southwest ✈️ 

Why? Because consistency matters. Affordability! Smooth landings. Friendly crews. Employees who treat people like people—not seat numbers. I’ve flown during Thanksgiving. Christmas. Peak travel chaos. And somehow, trip after trip, things just… work. I'm small company and it works for me.

No celebrity sightings. No viral drama. Just solid service, early arrivals, and people who genuinely seem to care—including one Thanksgiving flight where a Southwest employee shared part of her pizza with me when I was starving. That kind of moment sticks. 

That’s what GonnaHappen is really about.
